ATL Turbine Services announces significant new contract win with Rolls-Royce

ATL Turbine Services announces significant new contract win with Rolls-Royce

Sharing in Growth beneficiary ATL Turbine Services, the Dundee based turbine component repair company, has announced a significant new contract win with Rolls-Royce. The competitively won contract is for the GEM turbine which powers the Lynx helicopter and is an exclusive single source agreement with Rolls-Royce that runs to the end of 2021.

No contract value has been released, however, the company indicated it would be creating extra jobs and recruitment has already begun at its Baldovie facility. As a result of this, and other awards, the company has recorded a staff growth of 24% over the last year.

The GEM contract opens new markets for ATL and marks its first move into the extensive helicopter market. Andy Adams, ATL sales director, said: “This is a significant long-term programme for ATL and will help Rolls-Royce maintain the Lynx helicopter availability around the globe.  Winning such a large, long-term contract is a true demonstration of our fast, responsive service, strong customer relationships and proven track record of on time delivery.

“As specialists in component repair, in particular late life turbines, ATL has unique experience and knowledge and we will be working hard to secure support to the GEM programme through until its planned phase out in 2030.”

Tony Evans, Purchase Manager at Rolls-Royce, commented: “We look forward to working with ATL to ensure this GEM programme is successful.”

In May 2017 ATL joined Sharing in Growth, the government-backed national productivity programme. Said Sharing in Growth’s CEO Andy Page: “Sharing in Growth is working with 60 aerospace companies like ATL, helping them expand business and jobs and we congratulate ATL on securing this valuable contract with Rolls-Royce. To date our programme participants have secured around £2.8 billion in contracts and 4,000 jobs.”

ATL Turbine Services is a one stop shop turbine component repair facility, dealing in both aero and light industrial turbines. The company has a history dating back to the early 1980s and is based in Baldovie Industrial Estate, Dundee.

ATL offers a broad range of specialised component repair capabilities, which give customers a fast, dependable and cost-effective alternative to new-for-old component replacement. As an engineering solution provider, ATL is able to refurbish parts back to a fully restored condition so that they have the same integrity and durability as new parts.
