Business leaders’ organisation The CBI has produced a policy position paper ahead of the Comprehensive Spending Review recommending that business and government must work together to innovate and share management best practice.
The report – From follower to leader – uses Sharing in Growth as a good example of businesses working with customers and suppliers to raise the overall level of innovation and diffuse best practice within a sector.
According to the report: “Schemes like National Aerospace Technology Programme (NATEP) and Sharing in Growth are examples of this in the aerospace supply chain. Enhancing business collaboration with government and within supply chains is a crucial aspect to the UK becoming an innovation leader.”
The CBI states that successful economies not only develop innovative technologies and processes, they also quickly adopt them.
Said the report: “Improving the economy-wide diffusion of new ideas will boost productivity, bringing benefits to the tune of at least £20 billion a year and enhancing businesses’ ability to innovate further.”
