Firm shrugs off Brexit woes with new contract award

Firm shrugs off Brexit woes with new contract award

ATL Turbine Services, a Dundee based turbine component repair company, has shrugged off Brexit concerns with another strong set of results for its financial year ending June 2019.

Sales grew to £7.2M, up by more than 10% on the prior year and pre-tax profits rose to over £1.5M.  Staffing numbers in the period grew by 16% to 78 people.

ATL specialises in legacy/late life gas turbines and works across the defence aviation, civil aviation, industrial and marine sectors with exports accounting for around 30% of sales.

ATL has been working with Sharing in Growth, the business effectiveness and lean programme funded by industry and the Regional Growth Fund for the last two years.  This has helped the Dundee based company to recently secure a significant five-year contract with a major aerospace OEM, estimated to be worth £5M over the contract term, which will result in additional recruitment over the coming months.

Dale Harris, ATL CEO commented, “ATL continues to deliver robust financial performance and sustainable growth. Over the last 12 months we added new clients to our portfolio, recruited 11 new employees and continued a major programme of investment in our facilities and process equipment.  I’m particularly pleased that we further developed and grew our international sales despite the constant uncertainty surrounding Brexit.”

Harris continued, “It’s thanks to the dedication and customer focus of our team that we continue to grow and perform as we do. ATL continues to demonstrate a healthy pipeline of work, has excellent long-term customer relationships and remains well positioned for ongoing growth.”

ATL Turbine Services is a one stop shop turbine component repair facility, dealing in both aero and light industrial turbines.  The company has a history dating back to the early 1980s and is based in Baldovie Industrial Estate, Dundee.

ATL offers a broad range of specialised component repair capabilities, which give customers a fast, dependable and cost-effective alternative to new-for-old component replacement. As an engineering solution provider, ATL is able to refurbish parts back to a fully restored condition so that they have the same integrity and durability as new parts.
