South West Metal Finishing (SWMF) has held an event to mark the shared success of its 160-strong team in winning a Sharing in Growth All STAR Integrity trophy.
The trophy was presented to directors Jackie Jacobs and Kevin Baker by Sharing in Growth operations executive Malcolm James in front of a staff gathering in early December.
The event also recognised team leaders Esther McPhee and Kerry Wilson who were among the first of the Sharing in Growth Lighthouse Team Leader Academy delegates to achieve accreditation for completing the programme and successfully putting their learning into practice.
Esther was also lauded as the first winner of the Sharing in Growth All STAR Team Leader trophy.
Since joining Sharing in Growth (SiG) four years ago, SWMF has increased its sales turnover from £6.2 million in 2016 to £10.2 million turnover in 2019/20 and is now on track to achieve a projected turnover of £13.7 million by 2021.
SWMF, which has four sites based in Exeter, Yeovil, and Chippenham, is a leading supplier of surface treatment services to aerospace and other high technology sectors. Its SiG programme has focussed on three key areas: leadership and people, systems and technology, and customer and operational excellence.
Said SiG business transformation coach Garry Catchpole: “We are delighted with the success of the South West Metal Finishing team. They are a great beneficiary with a leadership team that is very open to change who have worked in true partnership with us. They now have strategic vision and have invested in their people and consequently have achieved well-deserved results.”
Said SWMF managing director Kevin Baker: “Together with Sharing in Growth, we have been able to empower our leadership and people to transform our business and build a sustainable foundation for future growth. It is our vision to lead the way in surface engineering and through SiG’s innovative training and techniques, we are well-placed to deliver cutting-edge surface treatment solutions to our customers.”
