Castle Precision Engineering has called on one of Sharing in Growth’s new business development coaches to help accelerate best practice in its sales team.

The Glasgow-based company wanted to review the current capacity and workload being managed by the sales team. So, SiG business development coach Jo Willis and business transformation coach Jim Houston ran a bespoke one day workshop to identify changes that would support Castle’s sales growth objectives.

Each member of the sales team provided details of daily activities and time spent on each activity utilising load and capacity methodology. They then identified non-value adding actions with the focus of freeing up time for additional sales activities. They also suggested changes, and personal development, needed to meet the business requirements.

The outcome of the day’s session was that the managing director supported the removal of non-value adding activities and the transfer of responsibilities that were outside the sales role to other areas of the business.

Said Jo: “The workshop has provided opportunities which will form the basis of an improvement charter going forward with measurable outputs for the team. Thank you to the team for a very engaging day with all those who attended providing fantastic ideas and solutions for the ongoing development of the department. “
