Romford-based Xcel Aerospace has celebrated its first award of National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) certificates as part of the Sharing in Growth programme.
Said Xcel Aeropsace operations manager Ray Searles: “The benefits of undertaking the NVQ qualifications has been to develop skills relevant to our work place needs. I have seen their confidence grow particularly around data driven problem solving. This has been transferrable back to their various jobs roles and is assisting Xcel to continue improving beyond the NVQ programme. The projects they delivered have been of real benefit to the business and it has also been an excellent improvement catalyst for the rest of the business. The machining project enabled the team to release an additional 500 hours of milling capacity through 75% reduced setup times and simultaneously saving tooling costs by 50%. The team also conducted a successful 5s project in the Despatch area removing over £2,500 in transport waste….”
